If they get one of those out, then a baneblade supported by a Leman Russ or two, some Basalisks, or even just some heavy weapons teams with lascannons will take it out. Originally posted by sayerglasgow:I would keep in mind that a baneblade can beat a restored monolith. The Curse of The Machine Spirit works on a restored Necron Monolith as well, and boy can you make good use of those 20 secounds! Basilisk are also a more viable option due to the fact that the Necron lord is probably busy on the main battle line, and earthshaker rounds make fast work of the now upgrated Necron Warriors. If the game goes to Tier 4 which almost always happens on some maps,be sure to get a 4 man Command squad. Get Kasrkin and Ogryn, build the tactica and get their upgrates (Kasrkin armor and Powered bayonets),attach priests to them and charge. If if you can afford it go tier 3,but only if you find yourself unable to end the game then and there for some reason. And Priests are good for destroying buildings as well, and should help you in taking down that Necron Lord,if you lost your command squad. When battle is joined be sure to have the priests go up front and if there are any immortals to be found, tell them to attack the immortals - since they are tied up in melee combat they can't fire and thus they can't stop their fellow necrons from being fried. However your best chance against a half decent necron is to get to tier 2 as soon as possible (and if you can,try to keep the Command Squad alive) and then build a mecanized command, build hellhounds and build priests. Why is that? Because while 2-4 hellhounds will make short work of any Necron Warriors,a squad of immortals will destroy them very, very quickly. Turret rushing is somewhat doable but that is a story for another day. Basilisks are devestating, but any good necron will just jump his lord to them, drop Solar Pulse and give his army enough time to advance. Plasma + priests + commissar with weapons specilization is a viable option but requires decent micro and you must be very careful, because the Necron Lord's fully charged up lightning has a very nasty effect on the poor guardsmen. Guardsmen with grenades will not do much here since necrons are very, very hard to knock down. If you bring along a commissar you can tie up a warrior squad for a very long time, thus giving your command squad more time to pick the scarabs off. If the Necron goes for eco build order then you can ♥♥♥♥ him up good here. If they have a lord and warriors, then just run around and try to kill a bit more and buy yourself some time. The way I almost always do it is to harras the living ♥♥♥♥ out of them with the command squad early game.Kill as many scarabs as you can,be sure to use ranged stance tough. If they have a warrior squad run the ♥♥♥♥ away from them and shoot some other scarabs - you can afford it due to the speed/hp boost the priest gives you.
